Getting started

Add your team

Add responders, give them phone access, and understand who can do what.

WarnFire has two kinds of people, and keeping them separate is a safety feature:

  • A responder is someone who can be paged when something breaks. Responders answer alerts — they don’t change settings.
  • A console user is someone who can sign in to this website and change settings.

One person can be both, but adding someone as a responder never gives them access to your configuration.

Add a responder

  1. In the sidebar, open On-call → People.
  2. In the Add responder panel, enter their Name and Email.
  3. Press Add responder.

They now appear in the Responders list and can be placed on schedules and escalation policies.

Give a responder phone access

Responders use the WarnFire mobile app to get paged and respond. To sign in, each responder needs an access code — a personal key you create for them.

  1. On the People page, scroll to Responder access tokens.
  2. Find the responder and press Issue token.
  3. A code appears marked COPY NOW · SHOWN ONCE. Copy it and pass it to the responder privately (not in a group chat).

The responder enters this code in the mobile app — see Get the mobile app.

Good to know:

  • Codes expire after 90 days by default. Issue a new one when that happens.
  • Rotate replaces someone’s code (the old one stops working). Use it if a code may have leaked.
  • Revoke cuts off access immediately — for example, when a phone is lost.

Group people into teams

A team is a named group with its own primary on-call schedule — for example Payments or Infrastructure. Teams are useful during an incident: you can invite “whoever is on call for Payments right now” without needing to know who that is.

Create one under On-call → Teams: give it a name, pick its members, and choose its primary on-call schedule.

Invite console users

To let a colleague help manage settings, a tenant owner can add them under Configuration → Access. Each console user gets a role:

RoleWhat they can do
Tenant viewerLook at everything, change nothing.
Tenant adminManage people, schedules, services, and integrations.
Tenant ownerEverything above, plus manage console users themselves.

Pick the smallest role that fits. You can always upgrade someone later.
