Getting started

Change your password or delete your account

Change your WarnFire password, or permanently delete your account, from the mobile app.

Version 1.0 Status Needs verification For Responders accountpassworddeletionmobile

You can change your password or delete your WarnFire account yourself, from the mobile app. You do not need to ask anyone, wait for approval, or send an email.

Both actions open a page in your phone’s browser. You are already signed in when it opens — there is no password to type just to get there.

Before you begin

You need the WarnFire app installed and signed in on your phone. If you have not done that yet, get the mobile app first.

You also need to know your current password. If you have forgotten it, sign out of the app and use Forgot password on the sign-in screen instead.

Change your password

  1. Open the WarnFire app and tap Settings.
  2. Under Account, tap Change password.
  3. Your browser opens on your account page. Enter your current password, then your new one, and tap Change password.

Your new password must be at least 12 characters. A longer phrase is stronger, and spaces and any characters are fine.

Changing your password signs you out everywhere: the WarnFire app on this phone, any other phone, and any browser you left signed in. Sign in to the app again with the new password. Until you do, you will not receive pages, so do this when you are not the person on call, or sign back in straight away.

Delete your account

Deleting is permanent. Nothing can be restored afterwards, so read what it will remove before you confirm.

  1. Open the WarnFire app and tap Settings.
  2. Under Account, tap Delete account, then Continue.
  3. Your browser opens on your account page. It lists exactly what deleting will remove. Enter your password, type DELETE in the confirmation box, and press the button.

If you are a responder or an administrator

Deleting removes your account and takes you out of your organization. Your sign-in details, your devices, your phone number, and your contact details are erased, and you stop being paged immediately.

You are also removed from every schedule and escalation policy you were part of. If that leaves a schedule or a policy with nobody in it, WarnFire emails your organization’s owners so they can fix the gap.

Your organization keeps its record of the incidents you responded to, with your personal details removed from it.

If you are the only owner of the workspace

What happens depends on whether anyone else is in the workspace.

Other people still have access. WarnFire removes only you, and ownership passes to the person who has been in the workspace longest — an administrator if there is one. The workspace, its schedules, policies, integrations, and everyone else’s paging carry on unchanged. The page tells you who becomes the owner before you confirm, and that person is emailed.

If you would rather choose the new owner yourself, do it first: go to On-call → People in the web console, change their role to Owner, and then delete your account.

You are the only person in the workspace. Your account is the workspace, so deleting your account deletes the whole workspace: every service, escalation policy, schedule, responder, and all incident history — permanently. Any incidents that are still open are closed and stop paging, and your subscription is cancelled so you are not charged again. The page tells you this, and shows you how much is about to be deleted, before it lets you confirm.

Verify it worked

After changing your password, open the WarnFire app. It asks you to sign in again. Sign in with the new password — if it opens your incident list, the change is complete and you can be paged again.

After deleting your account, the browser page says your account is deleted. Opening the WarnFire app and trying to sign in with the same email and password is refused. You can then delete the app from your phone.

The link from the app can only be used once, and only for about a minute. If you see “This link has expired”, open the app again and tap Change password or Delete account a second time.

Next step

Once you are signed back in, check that WarnFire can still reach you — signing in again re-registers this phone for pages.
