Incident response
Building the response team
Invite experts mid-incident, accept or decline invitations, and hand off cleanly.
Big incidents need more than one person. WarnFire lets whoever owns an incident pull in help — without editing schedules or forwarding screenshots at 3 a.m.
Inviting someone
From the web console, open the incident and press Invite expert. From the phone, open the incident and press Invite responder or team.
Either way, you choose:
- Who — a specific responder, or an on-call team. Choosing a team means “whoever is on call for them right now” — WarnFire figures out who that is at the moment you send the invite.
- What role you need them in (see below).
- Why — a short message explaining the situation. Write it like a text to a colleague: “Checkout is failing and it looks database-shaped — need your eyes.”
Press Send invitation. The invitee gets a push notification immediately.
The roles
Roles are labels that make responsibilities clear when several people are working one problem:
| Role | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Subject-matter expert | “You know this system — help us fix it.” |
| Incident commander | Runs the response and makes the calls. |
| Communications lead | Keeps everyone else informed. |
| Observer | Watching and learning; not hands-on. |
Answering an invitation
Invitations appear at the top of the mobile app’s Status tab under You’re needed, and open with the full incident context. You can:
- Join incident now — you’re on the team immediately.
- In 15m / 30m / 60m — you’ll join, but you need a few minutes first. Everyone can see your commitment and when to expect you.
- Decline request — with an optional reason, so the team can try someone else fast.
Every answer lands on the incident’s timeline, so the person running the incident always knows who’s coming.
Leaving an incident
Done with your part? Open the invitation and press Leave incident, optionally noting why (“handoff complete”). Leaving is clean and recorded — and you can be invited back if things flare up again.
What invitations don’t do
Invitations are additive. Inviting help never changes who was paged, never pauses the escalation policy, and never transfers ownership by itself. The original paging plan keeps running until someone acknowledges.
